A composite material has at least two components permanently bonded together with adhesive. The adhesive layer contains spaces/voids throughout, into which an organic or aq. solvent or soln. can penetrate, the adhesive can dissolve or be dispersed in the solvent or soln., whilst the components of the composite are neither penetrated nor dissolved by the solvent/soln.. Pref. adhesives are based on acrylic, synthetic or natural rubber, or alkylacrylic-acrylic copolymer. ADVANTAGE - The individual elements of the prod. can be recovered for reuse/recycling.
