The stringed musical instrument comprises a fingerboard disposed on a neck and a resonance body connected to one end of the neck. A bridge is positioned on the resonance body. A nut is positioned on the neck. Strings extend between the bridge and the nut, frets are slidably disposed within the neck and through the fingerboard at positions along the length of the neck. A shaft is provided with a number of cams, rotatably disposed within the neck for engaging and actuating the frets. The frets are biased into a retracted position and into engagement with the cams of the shaft. The shaft is rotated for simultaneously actuating the frets to an extended or retracted position. The resonance body is provided with pick-ups.
