Smoothing roll extruder with improved output - has feed inlets at both ends of roll which has screw profile ends

Smoothing roll extruders have both unsatisfactory throughput and poor axial movement of material along the roll. The problems are considerably reduced by introducing the thermoplastic material e.g. scrap at both ends of the roll and taking off the homogenised material in the centre area. Movement of material towards the centre area is assisted by extruder screw type ends on the roll. USE/ADVANTAGE - The smoothing roll extruder is used to melt and homogenise thermoplastics, esp. mixed and soiled scrap; improved throughput and obviates the need for seals at the roll ends.
