The use of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to reduce turbidity in dried and reconstituted human or animal serum is new. Human or animal control serum in dry form contg. PVP is new. In a new procedure for reducing turbidity in dried and reconstituted human or animal serum opt. additionally contg. lipids, PVP is added to the liq. serum before drying. The PVP pref. has a mol. wt. of 10,000- 750,000, and is pref. added to the liq. serum in an amount of 1-20 g/l.
