The engine has its shaft parallel to the ship's length in plan and angled 15 to 30 deg. to the horizontal. The rotary pump (11) drives a thruster in the side of the hull, with a rotating 90 deg. elbow to direct the thrust as required. For dual engines, they are in separate hulls for catamarans. To clear blockages, the pump is reversed. This can be achieved by directing the thrust from one pump into the other, in a reverse direction. The intakes are sloped down to the bottom of the hull.
