An electrode in a measuring tube (2) of an inductive flow meter has a support (16) fixed to the tube (2), the support having high mechanical strength and on at least one of its side connected to the inside of the tube having a layer (18) of electrode material of high corrosion resistance, high abrasion resistance and good noise behaviour. The support (16) is placed in a lining (4) of the tube (2). The support is conically extended and a sealing ring (24) is between the abutment (22) and the screw (28). The support is made of metal (alloy), esp. steel. The electrode material is CrB2, LaB6, ZrB2, Cr3Cr, SiC, TaC, TiC, VC, WC, W2C, ZrC, TiN, ZrN, Cr3Si2, MoSi, TaSi2, TiSi2, WSi2, pref. matrix compsns. comprising WC/Co, W2C/Co, Cr3C2/NiCr, WC/NiCrBSi or Cr3C2/NiCrBSi. The electrode material is applied to the support (16) by spraying or soldering, pref. by flame spraying, detonation spraying, arc spraying or plasma spraying, or by means of a solder fabric or hard solder.
