An acoustic field, such as that produced when music is reproduced in a hall, is controlled by a signal processing system. The input signals (L, R) are converted (101) into digital form for processing (106) and coefficients are used that are set by a microcomputer (104) with keyboard entry. For control purposes the input signals must be delayed for a given time and a RAM is used for this purpose. The signals are processed and reproduced as front (FL', FR') and rear (RL', RR") digital channel signals. These are converted to analogue form for output using D to A converters (107, 108).
