PURPOSE:To improve the housing efficiency of a storage medium and to shorten read/write time by allocating one storage medium to each patient, and performing the unitary management of a medical image relating to respective patient by all the storage media. CONSTITUTION:When the patient visits a hospital for the purpose, for example, of photographing of computerized axial tomography(CT) 13, the patient is instructed to visit a radiation department carrying the storage medium 51. The image from the CT 13 is written on the storage medium 51 carrying compression data by an external memory device 12 connected to a medical image input device 11 and an image compression means 18 by them. The patient returns to a diagnostic department carrying the storage medium 51, and a doctor expands a compression image with an image expansion means 29 by operating a medical image input/output device 21, and dignoses disease by reading out a CT image on a CRT. Thereby, the housing efficiency of the storage medium 51 can be improved, and the read/write time can be shortened. |
