The IC engine has a heat distribution circuit with a radiator (2), a latent heat store (3), a pump (4) and a balancing container (5). In cases where the engine has not reached normal operating temperature or is in the idling condition, the balancing container and the latent heat unit are connected in series between the cylinder head (1a) and the pump.
