Information is derived from an ocular (1), a dichroitic mirror (a), a light pick-up lens (4), an i.r. LED (5c), an image sensor (6) and a computing processor (9) to produce registration data as regards the point of view of the photographer. A focus setting measuring assembly (108) registers the focus state of the taking lens (101) with reference to the field of view according to the derived information. A focus setter (110) adjusts the taking lens according to the focus setting state. A control unit (109) stops information being generated w.r.t. the view point of the photographer when a manual setting is selected for focussing. A motor drive can be assigned to the lens. ADVANTAGE - Easier handling of camera when changing mode.
