The present invention is directed to an improved heat-insulating plug (40) adapted to be attached to the oven side of a coke oven door. The improvement comprises a castable cement plug core (42) encompassed by a metal shell (44) having a plurality of hangers (56, 58) attached to the inside face of the shell (44) and protruding into the cement core (42). The cement core (42) is substantially thinner than that used in existing coke oven door plugs. |
