The invention relates to a method for the production of a fibrous composite material, wherein a mixture of fibrous starting materials is formed into a material web on the dry-forming principle or the like, and to a fibrous composite material produced by the method. In the invention, the composite material is produced through the steps of mixing glass or mineral wool fibres with thermoplastic binder components; forming the mixture into a material web (3); compacting the material web by compression; and binding the material web (3') into a composite (8) by means of heat.
