21 Novel xanthine compounds represented by the following formula: wherein each of R1 and R2 independently represents allyl or propargyl; R3 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl; each of X1 and X2 independently represents oxygen or sulfur; Y represents a single bond or alkylene, and n represents 0 or 1; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof have a diuretic effect and a renal-protecting effect.
