PURPOSE:To measure the sonic velocity of a buried pipe with as little labor as possible for the drilling work and the like. CONSTITUTION:A detecting hole 2 is drilled for a buried pipe 1, the probe 3 of a ultrasonic flaw detector 4 is brought into contact with the buried pipe 1 via the detecting hole 2, a ultrasonic wave is transmitted in the peripheral direction of the buried pipe 1 from the probe 3, the ultrasonic wave propagated in the peripheral direction of the buried pipe 1 is received, and the sonic velocity of the buried pipe 1 is calculated from the time required for the propagation and the known outer diameter of the pipe 1. |
