Besides intermittent compression of the soft parts of the ankle around the medial and lateral malleolus, the ankle bandage permits deep transverse friction on the insertion of the Achilles tendon; it comprises an anatomically shaped tubular body (11) which is provided with a lower section (16) forming a walking sole (16a), encloses half the foot in its applied state and reaches up to the calf, a semi-heel (18) being knitted in the region of the walking sole (16a), and which has two pressure pads (20) of anatomically asymmetrical design lying over the para-Achilles soft tissues and covering the region above Bisgaard's coulisse at the medial and lateral malleolus, each of these pressure pads being designed as a shaped body (21) having a lateral, rounded cutout (27) for the accommodation of the ankle projection and consisting of a soft or soft-elastic material, a rod-shaped friction core (30) made of a hard, incompressible material being arranged in the shaped body (21) and fixed in position in the material of the shaped body (21). …<IMAGE>… |
