PURPOSE:To prevent overshoot in evaluating the state of a slip change by lowering sensitivity for detecting the state, when a wheel speed used for drive slip detection is less than a value determined by the resolution of a wheel speed detection means. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 7 reads wheel speeds VFR, VFL, VRR and VRL from respective wheel speed sensors 50R, 50L, 51R and 51L. A microcomputer 10 in the control circuit 7 forcibly sets the concerned wheel speed at Vmin/2, when at least one of wheel speeds VFR and VFL is less than K1XVmin where K1 is a constant larger than 1 and Vmin is a minimum wheel speed detectable with a wheel speed sensor. The microcomputer 10 thereby functions as a detection sensitivity lowering means.
