<p>PURPOSE:To provide the rotary head type magnetic recording and reproducing device having a reel driving mechanism which can prevent such an accident as infeasibility of housing of a tape into a cassette at the time of unloading by judging the abnormality at the time of tape unloading. CONSTITUTION:The rotary head type magnetic recording and reproducing device which draws out the magnetic tape to the outside of the cassette and runs the tape has take-up side and supply side reel FG detecting means for detecting the revolutions of reels and a tape take-up torque changeover means of the reels at the time of tape unloading. The above-mentioned tape winding diameter is detected by the periods of the reel FG signals of the reel FG detecting means. Whether the drawn out magnetic tape is completely housed into the cassette or not is discriminated by comparing the number of pulses of the reel FG signals according to the rotating quantity of the reel required for completely housing the tape into the cassette at the time of the tape unloading according to the detected tape winding diameter and the number of pulses at the time of the actual tape unloading.</p> |
