PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF FILAMENTARY ABRASIVE PARTICLES

A device and process is disclosed for producing filamentary abrasive particles having substantially equal aspect ratios without further length production. The particles are produced by forcing a dispersion of an abrasive material by forcing means (12) through a multiplicity of perforations in a belt (14) which moves in tight register with the orifice of said forcing means (12). The particles (16) while on the belt (14) are treated to render them non-sticky with treating means (17) and afterwards removed from the belt (14) by removing means (20).
