PRODUCTION OF PHENOLIC RESIN FOAM

PURPOSE:To produce a phenolic resin foam less corrosive to metal by using little or no blowing agent which is subject to fluorocarbon regulation. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a phenolic resin foam comprising foaming and curing a liquid phenolic resin in the presence of a blowing agent, an acid curing agent (desirably containing at least one member selected from among a polycyclic aromatic sulfonic acid, a sulfonated creosote oil and a condensate of a polycyclic aromatic sulfonic acid and/or a sulfonated creosote oil with formaldehyde) and a foam stabilizer, wherein the blowing agent is one containing at least barium carbonate.
