<p>Glued nested paper towels (17) are obtained by embossing at least one of the two plies (1, 10) using a matched rubber embossing roll (4) and applying adhesive to that embossed ply (1) using a rotogravure printing roll (7) while the ply is backed by the matched rubber embossing roll (4). The use of a matched rubber embossing roll (4) reduces strength degradation of the ply during embossing and permits the use of rotogravure adhesive printing, which provides metered application of adhesive with less adhesive strike-through. <IMAGE></p> |
