PURPOSE: To obtain a non-carcinogenic liquid flavoring composition useful as a substitute for chloroform in pharmaceutical, oral hygiene and confectionery compositions. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises the combination of about 0.01-1.0wt.% of pepper-like constituents, such as piperine of the formula, and about 5.0-99.5wt.% of volatile formate esters, such as ethyl formate.
