PURPOSE:To produce optically active R-3-chloro-1-phenyl-1-propanol by the use of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:3-Chloropropionphenone is brought into contact with microorganisms belonging to the genus Candida, Geotrichum, Syringospora, Clavispora, Sporidiobolus, Saccharomyces, Torulaspora, Saccharomycopsis, Rhodosporidium, etc., and the produced optically active R-3-chloro-1-phenyl-1- propanol is collected from the product. The highly optically active R-3-chloro-1- phenyl-1-propanol having high optical purity can easily be produced. |
