PURPOSE:To obtain a new substituted pyridinesulfonamide-based compound useful as a herbicide. CONSTITUTION:A compound, e.g. N-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl) aminocarbonyl]-3-(N'-methyl-N'-methylsulfonylamino)-2-(pyridinesulfona mide expressed by formula I (R1 is alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, etc.; R2 is H, alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, etc.; R3 is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; X and Y are halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or haloalkoxy). The aforementioned compound is obtained by reacting a substituted pyridine-based compound expressed by formula II (Z1 is -NH2, -NCO or -NHCO2R4; R4 is alkyl or aryl) with a pyrimidine-based compound expressed by formula III (Z2 is -NH2 when Z1 is -NCO or -NHCO2R4 and -NCO or -NHCO2R4 when Z1 is -NH2). |
