FIBER TYPE OPTICAL AMPLIFIER

PURPOSE:To stabilize the level of the exciting light inputted to optical fibers having an optical amplifying function. CONSTITUTION:A light source 2 for excitation of a lowered level is automatically switched to a common light source 6 for excitation common to >=2 fiber type optical amplifying channels 5 so that the excitation light outputted from this common light source 6 for excitation is transmitted to the fiber type optical amplifying channel 5 of the lowered level when the level of the exciting light outputted from the light source 2 for excitation of any of the fiber type optical amplifying channels 5 falls to the prescribed level or below if there are >=2 pieces of the fiber type optical amplifying channels 5 formed by using optical fibers 1 having the optical amplifying function.
