PURPOSE:To prevent breaking caused by static fatigue and to improve reliability by eliminating the distortion of a glass fiber occurring by means of bending. CONSTITUTION:A quartz glass fiber F is spirally wound on a mandrel M made of quartz and while the fiber F is held for a prescribed time in this state, the fiber F is heated at the temp. of the distortion point of quartz glass or below to obtain a bending habit. Thus, the distortion accompanying with the bending can be reduced, and the breaking caused by the static fatigue of the quartz glass hardly occurs. |
