PURPOSE:To decrease the number of the exchange of ink cartridges, and to reduce running cost by preventing the consumption of unuseful ink. CONSTITUTION:Whether or not a command data from a host device reaches is decided (S1). Whether a printing command or not is decided (S2), and commands except the printing command are executed (S3). Whether or not a recording head is covered with a cap is judged (S4), a timing means (a timer) for executing pre-discharge at fixed intervals is started (S5), and a printing data from the host device is received (S6). The number of any discharge opening used in the recording head within a fixed time is counted, and ink is preliminarily discharged only from a defective discharge opening when it is decided that there is a discharge defective factor in the discharge opening. |
