PURPOSE:To remove a divalent iron ion being one factor causing the clogging of cooling piping from ground water in which an org. reducing substance such as ammoniacal nitrogen coexisting in treating ground water by a small-sized treatment apparatus in order to obtain water improved in quality after treatment. CONSTITUTION:Sodium hypochlorite is added to pumped-up ground water in an amount almost equivalent to the divalent iron ion contained in said ground water to suppress the oxidation of the divalent iron salt to almost 90% and the added oxidizing agent is perfectly decomposed and about 10% of the remaining iron salt is caught by iron bacteria to be perfectly removed. The oxidized trivalent iron ion is flocculated and settled as hardly soluble hydroxide to be removed by filtering. |
