PURPOSE:To provide an optical shutter type color display which permits superior recognition performance even at such a bright place as under the solar beams and speedy display operation. CONSTITUTION:As for an optical shutter, a prescribed number of strip-shaped upper side transparent electrodes 2 are formed on an upper side glass substrate 1 in the parallel direction thereto. Further, a prescribed number of strip-shaped lower side transparent electrodes 4 are formed on a lower side glass substrate 5, in the direction perpendicular to the upper side transparent electrode 2, and a liquid crystal layer 3 is formed between the upper and lower transparent electrodes 2 and 4. A display dot shutter 9 is formed at many mutually crossing parts of the upper and lower transparent electrodes 2 and 4 crossing at right angle, and the display dot shutter 9 is put into transparent state by the application of voltage, and the color display dot 7 can be recognized. |
