PURPOSE:To improve the light utilization efficiency and color balance. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal projector is equipped with a metal halide light source 1 which constitutes a light source part, a condenser lens 2, a cold mirror 3, two dichroic mirrors 41 and 42 and a mirror 43 for demultiplexing which separate the white parallel light emitted by the light source part into respective color light components, three polarized light conversion modules 51-5a which convert the relevant color light components into linear polarized light beams, three liquid crystal panels 61-6a which modulate the linear polarized light beams corresponding to respective color components of an image signal, and dichroic mirrors 71 and 72 for multiplexing and a mirror 73 for multiplexing which multiplex the respective linear polarized light beams, and a projection lens 8 which projects the multiplexed linear polarized light upon a screen 9. |
