PURPOSE: To provide a simple and inexpensive means for correcting the oscillation of a rotary polygon mirror optical scanning system. CONSTITUTION: The rotary polygon mirror optical scanning system has a cross scanning cylindrical lens 20 to be controlled in its axial direction in an optical part arranged before a polygon mirror 14 and a cross scanning cylindrical lens 30 to be controlled in its axial direction between a two-component fθlens 24 and a cylindrical mirror surface for oscillation correction in an optical part arranged after the mirror 14. The lens 30 to be controlled in the axial direction of the optical equipment arranged after the mirror 14 is functioned so as to flatten the curvature of a visual field of cross scanning and reposition the focus of the visual field of cross scanning and allows production tolerance more moderate than that of an optical scanning system. The lens 20 to be controlled in the axial direction of the optical equipment arranged before the mirror 14 is functioned so as to position the overflow part of cross scanning beams on a scanning line.
