Protected module for a card with microcircuits

The electronic module (1) is intended to be incorporated into a card with microcircuits. The module includes an integrated circuit chip (10) confined in a completely closed housing (50), this housing being defined by a cap (30) and by a substrate (6) including electrodes (7) intended to come into contact with an apparatus in which the card is inserted. A space (46) is formed between one face (11) of the chip and the bottom of the cap. The chip is thus protected from all mechanical stresses which might be exerted on the module both during handling and during its mounting onto the card. <IMAGE>
