According to this method: a) the thermoelectric power (PTE1) of a sample of this alloy, in which the element is in solution, is measured. b) the thermoelectric power (PTE2) of a second sample in which the said element is completely precipitated, or of the same sample in which the said element has been made to precipitate, is measured, c) and the content (Xsol), expressed in ppm by weight, of this element in solution in the alloy, is calculated from the relationship <IMAGE> where K is a previously determined characteristic coefficient of the element. This measurement method is particularly reliable, fast and easy, compared to the methods normally used. Application in metallurgical production plants, in particular for hot steel strips at the output of a rolling line. <IMAGE>
