The clutch (1) making it possible to neutralise the operation of the handles of doors or of windows in order to prevent young children and/or animals opening them, consists of a means with imprint (13) including a central opening (12) for mounting it onto the square bar of the original lock and having a catch (11); and of a journal (3), constituting either a handle (2) or a support (not represented) for the original handle and having a lock (4) held in a standby position called disengaged position by a weakened portion (14) having the function of a spring for returning the component by the memory effect of the material, associated with the hub (13) which is free in rotation via an elastic spring clip (9). In order to use the handle normally, it is necessary to carry out the following different manoeuvres, which a young child or an animal is not able to perform: turn the said handle from left to right by at least 90 DEG , place the latch (4) facing the catch (11), exert a pressure on the said latch and turn the handle while keeping the said pressure on. <IMAGE>
