PURPOSE: To maintain glass fibers at their optimum position and make it stronger and fine in appearance by giving heat and pressure and then impregnating injected resin in the glass fibers and a preform to be integrally bound while fan blades are molded. CONSTITUTION: Glass fiber cloths 24 or some other type of textile material is laid in the lower half 20 of a mold 22. A flexible bag is placed on the glass fiber cloths 24 in the mold 22 and on the flexible bag 26 a prefrom 18 made of semi-rigid glass fiber which fits with the interior shape of a fan blade is mounted. The preform 18 is covered with the additional glass fiber cloths and the mold 22 is closed so as to inflate the flexible bag 26. Resin is then injected around the flexible bag 26 in the mold 22. The injected resin is impregnated in the glass fiber cloth 24 and the preform 18, while the fan blade is molded by applying heat and pressure. |
