The present invention relates to a machine for removing the stalks from elongate products. The machine is characterised in that it comprises a device (2) having at least one endless cable (4) with straight lengths (4a, 4b) which is driven positively so as to catch elongate products falling on either one or other (4a; 4b) of the lengths of the cable (4) and becoming hooked thereon by their branched stalks or so as to catch bunches of elongate products falling astride one or other (4a; 4b) of these lengths by the stalks linking the elongate products of each bunch and so as to transport the suspended elongate products or the suspended bunches towards a device (3) associated with the said length which automatically detaches the branched stalks or the linking stalks from the elongate products by cutting through them.
