PURPOSE: To generate n rasters including the next step by using m scanning beams to arrange rasters in square areas which are horizontally extended at equal intervals. CONSTITUTION: A line 27 prescribes the start of scanning, and a line 26 prescribes the end of scanning. A rectangular area of a photoreceptor demarcated by lines 26 and 27 is assumed, and the rectangular area includes rasters 21 to 23. Picture data for the first raster is supplied to scanning lines 13 to 15. First, data is supplied to only the first 2/3 of a scanning line 11 and is changed at a point 24 and is switched to data of the raster 22. For example, if the raster 21 is white and the raster 22 is black, the whole of scanning lines 16 and 17 and the first 1/3 of a scanning line 18 become a black pixel and the remaining 2/3 of the scanning line 18 becomes a white pixel by the data supply switching. Then, an arbitrary number of scanning lines are adapted to an arbitrary number of data rasters to adapt the scanning speed to different raster densities. Thus, rasters including the next step are generated. |
