The invention relates to a breaking device for closing a volume (1) containing a very high-pressure fluid, characterised in that it includes an inner capsule (10, 110) equipped with zones of weakness which are symmetric on both its faces and with pyrotechnic means placed in the said zones such that it can either open by itself by breakage brought about by pressure prevailing in the said volume when it has exceeded a predetermined maximum value, or be broken on command by implementing the pyrotechnic means, in order instantaneously to lower its mechanical strength and allow the pressure prevailing in the said volume to drive the elements therefrom at a given moment. <IMAGE>
