发明名称 Castrated male guineafowl
摘要 The invention relates to a method of rearing male guineafowl intended to produce a meat of high eating quality. According to this method, the male guineafowl is castrated at the age of 10 to 12 weeks and fed on 90% cereals for the 20 weeks following castration, their muscular development being enhanced by access to a grassy run equipped with perches. From the 21 to the 24th week of fattening, the feed is supplemented by bread, rice, maize, and skimmed milk. At the end of fattening, the guineafowl are placed in boxes holding a small number of birds. They are starved for at least 12 hours before slaughter, which is carried out in good hygiene conditions. The guineafowl is then prepared for market. The castration and the mode of rearing the male guineafowl, according to the invention, have the aim of obtaining a top-of-the-range bird, falling into the category of festive poultry, with a weight not exceeding 2.5 kg.
