PURPOSE: To detect movement by a simple circuit by mutually comparing the pixel values of sequential pixels in respective scanning lines of a television signal, detecting edges, comparing the positions of the detected edges, and determining the motion vector of each detected edge. CONSTITUTION: A memory circuit 1 receives a digital luminance signal Y, detects the luminance signals of sequential fields as a motion vector and supplies a circuit 2 to be inspected to subtractors 11, 12. Sequential pixel values are continuously supplied to the subtractors 11, 12 and the differences of sequential pixels and the signs of the differences are formed and supplied to an edge detector 15. The detector 15 detects the edges of two fields and determines a relative motion vector. A circuit 4 for inspecting a candidate vector mutually compares the pixels of the same position in two field scanning lines to determine a motion vector indicating the horizontal movement of each edge. |
