<p>A novelty device (2) comprises a substantially cube-shaped container in which a gift may be disposed. Opposite walls (4b, 4d) of the container are extended upwardly so as to define respective tabs (8, 9) each of which is folded back on itself to define tab parts (8a, 8b and 9a, 9b). A snap is connected between the tabs (8, 9), and extends within the container. In use, an operator grasps tabs (8, 9) and urges them apart. In doing so, the container opens to reveal the gift and the snap emits a sharp, explosive sound. Novelty devices of other shapes are also described. Also described are novelty devices which comprise a greetings card on which a first movable part is provided. A snap is fixed to the movable part. In use, the movable part is moved by an operator such that the snap emits a sharp, explosive sound and an information bearing portion, for example, a motto, previously concealed by the first movable part, is revealed.</p> |
