摘要 <p>A system for redn. of carboniferous domestic or industrial waste in the form of a slag. Organic waste prods. like sediments from water treatment works, industrial residues with high plastic, heavy metals or chlorine loaded used oil or oil emulsions are handled. The system converts the high carbon and energy content of the waste prods., for the purpose of metal prodn. in a blast furnace. The waste prods. are first made into a fluid state and introduced into the blast furnace through tuyeres. The furnace burden consists of ore and coke, and through the action of gas in the blast furnace produces molten metal and slag. The organic part of the waste prods. are burnt in the cavity of the furnace at temps. in the order of 2000 deg.C. The amt. of waste material should not exceed 100g per cubic m. in the blast air. The waste prods. are pref. to be in a form which can be pumped and that granulated particles are carried by a gas stream. It is claimed that a saving of 30 Kg of coke per tonne of iron ore is achieved. ADVANTAGE - Gives redn. of carboniferous waste prods. safely and avoids prodn. of dioxins. The resulting slag from the blast furnace may be used as a substitute in construction materials. Trace metals are completely bonded into the iron or slag and cannot be leached out. The calorific value of the waste prods. are also utilised in the prodn. of pig iron.</p>
