<p>PURPOSE: To provide the insulating heat re-radiation-retention and infiltration air free heat shielding system. CONSTITUTION: The heat shielding system has maximum impact resistance and integrity based on ceramic fibers on both sides of the hot workpiece or has a fibrous hot surface having minimal heat storage capacity and minimal heat loss. Further, the system includes upper and lower heat shields 26 to form, in combination with rollers 22 employed to support an article to be heated, a substantial infiltration air-free enclosure 30, each of the heat shields 26 is made-up of substantially high purity 100% ceramic fiber which is relatively non-porous and gap free and having fiber hot faces. The fiber material of the heat shields 26 is compressed and maintained in a high density condition, and the fiber material of the lower heat shield is formed to be brought into contact with the circumstances of the rollers in a manner to prevent air from passing into the enclosure. The upper and lower heat shields are maintained in close proximity with the heated article.</p> |
