Supported by a fixed base (1) is a rear view mirror (50) housing (10) which can be swung to or fro, using a connecting cable (52) for a remote operating system. The housing is connected to a tilting member (20) connected at one end (26) to the base and at the other end (28) to the housing. The mirror fits inside an intermediate shell (10) with a plate (17) attached, forming a connection to one side of a spring clip (40), secured at the other side to part of the base. This part also forms a stop for the end position of the mirror. Attached to the back of the intermediate shell is a block (19), with its free end (47) retained by a resilient securing strip (32).
