The invention concerns a process for the production of raw synthesis gas from hydrocarbon-containing input gas by steam reforming and/or partial oxidation (2) and subsequent CO-conversion (4), the input gas (1) being saturated using evaporating process water and the water content optionally being increased further with steam. The aim of the invention is to propose a process in which unpurified process water is used in a CO-conversion instead of being subjected to a treatment operation, control of the exothermic reaction is improved and the equipment simplified. This aim is achieved by virtue of the fact that the exothermic CO-conversion reaction (2) is cooled simultaneously by the evaporating/vaporizing process water (3a) and the input gas (3).
