A marine surface vessel with a hull (91) supported by sidehull surfaces (94 and 95) and sidehull keels (72 and 74) and a gas cushion. The gas cushion is contained within a cavity in the bottom of the vessel by a forward bow (63), a divider member (64), moveable seal elements (68), intermediate fixed seals (90), aft fixed seals (81), and aft moveable seal elements (78 and 79). High pressure gas is supplied to the cushion by blowers (55 and 56) through main supply ducts (58 and 59) and secondary supply ducts (60 and 61). The gas cushion, sidehull surfaces (94 and 95) and sidehull keels (72 and 74), and gas cushion containing bow and seals provide stability to the vessel and give it desired speed and ride qualities. |
