PURPOSE: To provide a cowl assembly for an outboard engine by forming it with an upper cover and a lower cover, and positioning and arranging a seal between both covers with an interengaging mechanism located between the seal and one of the covers. CONSTITUTION: A cowl assembly 500 is constituted of a lower cover member 510, an upper cover member 640, and an endless seal 690 positioned and arranged between both cover members 510, 640. The seal 690 is provided with an upward extending portion 694 inserted and fitted into the recess 648 of the upper cover member 640 to seal between both covers 510, 640. The seal 690 has a relatively soft portion 698 and a relatively hard portion 702. The soft portion 698 has an upper portion 706 connected to the portion 694 and a lower portion 710 positioned between the upper end of the lower cover member 510 and the lower end of the upper cover member 640. The projection 722 of the hard portion 702 is hooked and fixed in a recess 656 on the inner surface of the upper cover member 640. |
