Clamping tailstock to grinding machine table - with steel cable passing through open channel tensioned between T=slot and nut at front of tailstock

The tailstock (2), which must be firmly clamped against the top and front locating faes of the grinding machine table (1), rests over a T-slot (5) running the length of the table. A block (6) fits into the T-slot and can be slid to any position along the table. Fixed to the block at an angle (27) to the table top is a flexible steel cable (16) which seats in an open-sided channel (17) in the tailstock. At the other end the cable is secured to a threaded stud (29) having a square section (22) for part of its length to prevent rotation. The cable is tensioned and the tailstocks clamped by tightening nut (31). USE/ADVANTAGE - Can be used to clamp a variety of machine parts. Simple design permitting convenient and accessible clamping.
