PURPOSE: To reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides remarkably from a diesel engine by means of a small structure by disposing a catalyst in the form of a static mixer in an exhaust manifold and disposing a supply source of a reducing agent before the entry of exhaust gas to the catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst 10 disposed in an exhaust manifold 4 for a large low-speed two-stroke diesel engine extends over a substantial length of the exhaust manifold 4, and is similar in construction to a static mixer. The catalyst 10 has several catalytically coated vertical metal sheets. A tube 12 that contains the catalyst 10 is supported at its four positions on the right end by a flow guide ring 22, which adjoins the right end of the tube 12 and has on the outer surface several circumferentially spaced blades 23 for invalidating any torsion. The right end of the exhaust manifold 4 is closed by a cover 25 having a taper guide cone 26 at its center.
