Diagnosis of pregnancy disorders is effected by (a) labelling a soluble non-hormonal human placental protein (I) with radioactive iodine, (b) incubating a body fluid sample with the labelled (I) and an anti-(I) antibody, (c) contacting the mixt. with a second antibody bound to a solid support, and (d) measuring the radioactivity of the bound complex. (I) is protein PP13 (EP101603) or other protein with an electrophoretic mobility in the albumin range, an isoelectric point of 4.6-4.9, a molecular wt. below 35,000 and a carbohydrate content below 1%.
