PURPOSE: To increase the throughput and to economically limit the size of a buffer and the number of packets by providing a second window larger than a first window. CONSTITUTION: A first window is called a network window and its size is a W1 block, and the second window is called a receiver flow control window and its size is W2 block, and W2 is larger than W1 . W1 is approximately equal to a band width delay product, and W2 is selected so as to be about twice as large as W1 . The number of unresolved blocks in the system is denoted as OB, when the value of LWt received most recently by a transmitter is indicated by LW1 . A value N1 is generated by increase of logical '1' in a bit map of an RMA field of a receiver control packet indicated as an example, an allowable maximum number NBN of a blocks which do not respond is calculated and is reported to the transmitter. In this arrangement, the throughput is increased, even in the case of the existence of an error, and further the number of blocks, which do not respond to packets in the network does not exceed W1 .
|
